A Crazy Week

Well, this week was a crazy one.  I have to thank God for His hand of mercy and grace on our family.
We had to take mom to the hospital last Tuesday for her pre op tests because of a hip replacement surgery.  Well, that turned into a week long stay in the hospital.  Her test showed up a blockage in her heart and so the doctor had to put a stint in and then watch her in ICU.
She ended up with a UTI and we had a scary couple hours one day.  So, she ended up staying for 6 days and we got the chance to bring her home on Sunday.  It was a heavy load of hours to say the least, but we all pitched in and she was supported by her whole family.  That made her feel good.

When these things happen, I think we wonder why?  I can always take a situation, sit back and ask the LORD that question and He is faithful to help me in my inquiries.
Well, one day a nurse came into mom's ICU room and saw a book I had laying there on moms bed about "John" written by Jerry Jenkins.  The nurse saw the book and said, "Oh, I want to read more books like that".  I asked him what he meant by those kind of books and he clarified that he was referring to things about the bible.
After that, we had a great opportunity to talk to the nurse for about 10 to 15 minutes about the confusion of understanding true salvation.
I told him that it says in Romans 10:8-10 - But what does it say? "The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the Word of Faith we are proclaiming:  9) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will be saved.  10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
It was exciting.  To see him taking in the explanation and watch his eyes light up with the "ding ding ding" going off in his head, was to say the least, so exciting.  Being part of his true understanding that I don't think, by the way he was reacting, had ever been explained to him before.  He was an answer to my prayer because I had prayed that God would make me sensitive to any opportunity in sharing Jesus with anyone open to hear, and boy, he was open and so ready.  The nurse left with a very solid bit of information understanding that with all the bible reading that he has done with the spouse and kids, there is still that heart knowledge over all the mind/head information.  I assured him that the only one that knows if he is saved is him and God and so to confess your need of Him to help you understand and He will do what you ask of Him.
I truly can say today that he left that room knowing something he never knew before and that all the Word he and his wife had been reading to his kids would not go void in him grasping the understanding in his heart of what salvation is in Christ.

So, this conversation left me with this.  We have a natural "default" tendency to feel stressed and upset when some trial comes our way, and justifiably so.  In that, I have always seen that God comes through each time with some small little moment in time to show up in our experience.
It was for me, the nurse.  This experience was one of God's moments of planned timing in our lives, even for just one nurse to know the salvation God has for him with the assurance of knowing he is going to Heaven.

Moms doing well, will have a heart monitor on and I am moving forward in faith that she will be good and her hip surgery will go through without a hitch and we will get another opportunity on the "Mission field" of life again to lead someone by the hand to the Savior.
This truly was One Of Those Abundantly Fine Days in my walk with the Lord and to again see His faithful powerful hand of planning His day out in my life...
